Winter Storm Dec 07

How are you all with the storm this past day or so? Looks like the actual snowfall is done, but hear the temps are going to drop and the winds are going to pick up so lots of drift.

Was anxious for a nice day at home with some movies, but had to go into work twice today due server problems.

Though now that it's over, the streets seem clearer, the trees still covered it's pretty outside.

Just hope all is well :)

It took one hour to navigate from Holland to Lewis Ave. - one way. The e-way was horrid. Lewis was the only reasonably cleared road. A shaft of sun came through the trees about 45 minutes before sunset. The very tops of the big oaks glistened and sparkled with ice. Made you forget about the grey slush coming by mid week. We are back home, snuggled in with home made Carribean black bean soup and a nice Merlot. All in all - a storm on Saturday night and into Sunday is the best time to have one.

There is a Zagat's rated Cuban resturant in Miami that introduced us to this rather nice pairing actually. Given the spiciness of the Carribean black bean soup, one should remain at home with a tolerant family. First there is the aroma of the soup simmered all day, then later there may be other aromas. ;)

Monroe Street near the mallet had a nice 2-3" base. Great for skiing and snowboarding. I was impressed.

For the next 10 days the highs are above freezing 7 and chances for more precip.

I like driving Toledo streets during winter. The potholes are filled with snow.

As usual, the media coverage was overblown and the hysteria unfounded. Come-on people! This is Northwest Ohio in December!

How many of these 5" snowstorms have you seen before? In my 50 years I have seen more then I can count.

Why is it that now for every Lightning, Snow, Wind, or flood storm we have to have these 6 hour newscast abd freaking weather advisories that do nothing but scare the freaking hell out of everybody; when in the past a simple forcast like expect 3-5" of snow on Sunday was adequete?

Same reason they have to say every winter not to leave animals or the elderly out in the cold and every summer not to leave animals or kids in the car.

There are a lot of idiots out there that literally need to be told these things.

Over and over and over again.

I have to agree with ryan. I did have to go out yesterday morning. I decided to walk since I didn't know how the roads where (rossford usually gets the roads pretty decent pretty quick sometimes). Then some numbnuts goes flying by in a 4wd. guess who wrecked and hit a speed limit sign and almost a parked car up the road.

I've definitely seen an uptick in reckless driving over the last week, and especially on Monday. The causative agents? More SUV retards ... apparently thinking (1) I'm driving too slow (hint: you can slide on slush just as well on ice, and what do you think's under that slush, anyways?) and (2) that 4WD is a somehow a substitute for friction (hint: it's not).

Um when you have an SUV you are surrounded by this force field that shields you from any danger of snow, ice, freezing rain. DUH

ha

seriously though I had to go to my friend Lindsays Graduation Party on Sunday! WHOAH the roads we're terrible but if the party wasn't going on I would have stayed home all day! ((I live in southern Michigan right on the border of Ohio))

Also even to this day Tuesday the roads downtown to my work SUCK big time.

I was out yesterday afternoon and drove Dorr Street from near the UT area all the way out to Crissey Road and it was a NIGHTMARE! Closer to downtown I almost hit a guy that was walking in the street because the sidewalks were still not cleared. Between McCord and Crissey Roads there were sporadic patches that were still completely snow/ice covered. I see one person spin out behind me because they were going pretty fast and hit a snow covered area. Fortunately there was no one around them so they didn't hit anyone when they spun around!

I didn't venture but up and down my own road today because I was sick, so I don't know what the roads were like.
