Why is this being done on a Wednesday morning? There are still fathers that work arent there?

Wondering if perhaps the gainfully employed fathers aren't the target demographic?

Though there are many men who work 2nd and 3rd shift who could make this time. Many of those men get left out when functions are planned around the day-shift working world. (My husband worked 3rd shift for a few years.)

I suspect mom2 is correct...this event is looking to get the most people who are currently unemployed. Daytime is when the most busses run, when people feel the safest downtown, etc.

I'm with Doug, apparently if you work from 9-5 you are a "great Dad".

It's because the people who work this things don't want to work more than day shift, understand I guess. It seems like all the people who care about the community only want to care during bankers hours.

I would go if it more accessible, my children are the best part of my life and I'm always looking for ways to be a better father.

dbw, if you read the "why" statement above, I don't think you're the target market. It sounds like this fatherhood fair is primarily for dads who need assistance from community agencies.

To provide fathers with information about community resources that can help them become more involved in their children’s lives or enhance the quality of life for children who have reunified with their fathers following foster care or relative care

Given that you currently live with your wife and children, and (I suspect) your kids been put into foster care, I think that this isn't the kind of fatherhood event that would be of significant benefit to you personally.

(I hope no one takes my comment as a negative about the event. It sounds like it could be of benefit to any dad who is in the targeted demographic, and I hope it is a success. My comment was only meant to point out that perhaps dbw has different fatherhood goals/needs than what was within the focus of this event.)

*eek...major typo. I meant to say that I suspect that dbw's kids have NOT been in foster care. Sorry dbw!

Some days I want to call up foster care!

I feel sort of bad that we have essentially hijacked the original announcement. (But I suppose its not really hurting anyone, since the event has already passed?)
