DVD Reviews

Okay, things are so tense around here (and everywhere) I thought I would attempt to start a movie thread and lighten the mood. With the colder weather approaching I know that I rent more movies and would love to hear about what everyone else likes.

Last weekend I watched Stuck. It is a little independent movie inspired by an actual event. Remember a few years back when the doped up chick in TX hit a homeless man and let him die in her garage? Well, that is the story here. Mena Survari plays the young girl with terrible decision making skills and Stephen Rae plays the unlucky jay walker. This movie is hard to describe. I laughed, I felt bad, I had to look away at times. The filmmaker takes great delight in gore, but never to an extreme where it is just gratuitous. Both leads are up to the task and you actually start to feel bad for all involved. There are times of sheer adrenaline as well closer to the end of the movie when you are not sure what exactly is going to happen.

If you like movies with a different style and are tired of the usual blockbuster crap churned out by the majors - rent this one. I do forewarn, NOT for children.

What have you seen lately?
