A film from '05, I think, this one had an extremely familiar formula-the guy who's been shot waking up in strange surroundings with amnesia (Bourne Identity, anyone?), but even though I've seen it a lot of times, I enjoyed this one because the acting carried it. A still-svelte Val Kilmer is the guy who's found in the desert and taken to a small-town southwestern hospital. Neve Campbell shows up a while later claiming to know him (he's released to her after a while, with the stipulation they don't leave town), his nurse has an unusual interest in him, and all sorts of weirdos begin to appear in town. I thought Sam Shepard stole the entire movie in one of the best (no, greatest) acting jobs I've seen in some time. Not underacted overacted, just nails it right. A major conspiracy begins to unravel with each memory return, of course. Faye Dunaway ,looking hotter than hell after her latest facelift, has a cameo, but don't blink. Recommended.
