Article source for : Toledoans and Affordable Higher Education
Will your kid go on to some kind of education beyond high school? Can you afford it right now? I did some checking, and found that the University of Toledo, http://cgi.money.cnn.com/tools/collegecost/collegecost.jsp?college_id=9432 , comes to $6,816 with an additional $1,111 in fees (if you can get the kid to sleep in his/her room). UTMC does have a program, http://toledotalk.com/cgi-bin/tt.pl/article/46049/Stay_in_school_get_10k_for_college, that allows up to $10,000 to be put aside toward education.
So does it look like you can put your kid through UT (or a cheaper university) if we continue to see this economy? I saw where the Miami University at Hamilton is even cheaper than Toledo, http://cgi.money.cnn.com/tools/collegecost/collegecost.jsp?college_id=7443. Is our local economy making it too expensive for Toledoans to pursue higher education? Where will the solar industry gets its engineers from? Toledo or places where the kids can afford college?
