this is the worst congress ever because:
a – reapportionment that makes safe D and R seats – safe seats have driven candidates and voters further and further apart. the tea party, essentially a third party that has taken over the republican party, would have about ten seats in congress if congressional districts were drawn fairly – same with far lefties. we get extreme solutions that abuses good governance as a result.
b – the congress that results from gerrymandering safe seats is also the reason good campaign reform never occurs. the hard core anti-tax and the hard core union/social program people run the show and think they can out fund-raise the other side into submission… leaving the large middle behind in their wake.
term limits is not the answer… the real answer is this: the supreme court has to stand up against gerrymandering and safe districts created by state legislators - return to natural compact boundries.
